Peoria Officer Shoots Suspect After
Being Hit With Baseball Bat

On Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at approximately 5:15 p.m., officers with the Peoria Police Department responded to a report of a suspicious person near the intersection of Northeast Glen Oak Avenue and Prospect Road. ​Upon arrival, officers encountered a man, 41-year-old Brandon Lewis of Peoria, armed with a wooden bat. Lewis swung the bat at officers, striking one. ​The officer hit by the bat fired one shot from his firearm while the other officer deployed a Taser. ​Lewis ran from officers and was subsequently found on the ground, where officers placed him in handcuffs. ​Officers rendered medical aid, but Lewis was later pronounced deceased on scene. ​The preliminary autopsy findings from the Peoria County Coroner’s Office indicated the cause of death to be a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Indianapolis Cop Shoots Double Murder Suspect After He Points Gun

Michael Hendricks shot two men over a $40 debt in Indianapolis on March 28, 2025. Police found one victim dead and another critically injured who later died. Hendricks was spotted, drew a gun on an officer, and was shot. He survived, pleaded guilty to two counts of murder, and was sentenced to 90 years in prison. No officers or bystanders were injured 

New Brunswick Cop Shoots Woman After She Charges With Knife

On August 8, 2025, New Brunswick police responded to reports of 68-year-old Deborah Terrell threatening neighbors with a knife. After unsuccessful attempts to communicate, officers confronted her at her apartment door. Terrell emerged wielding a knife, advanced toward officers despite pepper spray and taser attempts, leading one officer to fire twice, striking her. Terrell was pronounced dead at the hospital. A 12-inch knife was recovered at the scene. The police officers' identities were withheld due to safety concerns .

Jacksonville Officer Shoots Knife-Wielding Arson Suspect

On August 13, 2025, Jacksonville police responded to reports of Brian Gillis setting fire to a neighbor’s home. Later, officers found Gillis running with a large knife. After ignoring commands to drop the knife and continuing to advance, an officer shot Gillis, who later died at the scene. The incident involved a mental health evaluation request beforehand. The knife was recovered, and police provided medical aid on site 

LAPD Officers Shoot Suspect In Van Holding a Replica BB-Gun Rifle

On July 14, 2025, LAPD officers responded to a call about a man with a gun in a van. The suspect, Jeremy Flores, was seen holding what appeared to be an assault rifle but was actually a replica BB Airsoft gun. He refused to comply with commands, raised the rifle, and officers fired. Jeremy was shot, later pronounced dead. SWAT and medical personnel responded, and no officers or bystanders were injured 

LAPD Cops Open Fire On Armed Man During Street Altercation

On July 10, 2025, LAPD gang enforcement officers in Los Angeles observed James Tullous exit a vehicle armed with a handgun. During a physical altercation, Tullous fired one shot at another man. Officers intervened, resulting in an officer-involved shooting where Tullous was struck and later pronounced dead. No other injuries were reported. A handgun was recovered as evidence .

Hayward Officers Deploy Tasers On Burglary Suspect Armed With Screwdriver

On March 12, 2025, Hayward police responded to a burglary in progress. Suspect Nathan Hoang had broken into a home and fled through backyards and rooftops. Officers used tasers to subdue Hoang, who was armed with a screwdriver and resisted arrest. Hoang was eventually detained but suffered a medical emergency and died days later due to complications from methamphetamine toxicity, an enlarged heart, and physical exertion during the incident 

New Brunswick Police Shoot Suspect Who Charged Them With Knife

On August 8, 2025, Cheektowaga (Buffalo), NY police shot and killed 60-year-old Hugh Davis, Jr. after he charged at officers with a large knife during an attempted arrest related to a violent assault warrant. The encounter involved multiple officers, and Davis was shot three times at nearly point-blank range. Emergency medical efforts followed, but Davis was declared dead at the scene. No officers were injured 

Jacksonville Officer Shoots Knife-Wielding Arson Suspect

On August 13, 2025, Brian Gillis set fire to a neighbor’s home in Jacksonville, FL. After family requested a mental health evaluation, officers found Gillis fleeing with a large knife. Officer Bumgarner ordered him to drop the knife, but Gillis ignored commands and pointed the knife at the officer, who then shot Gillis. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. Other officers removed the knife and rendered aid before paramedics arrived 

LAPD Officers Shoot Suspect In Van Holding a Replica BB-Gun Rifle

On July 14, 2025, LAPD officers responded to a report of a man with a possible assault rifle in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles. The suspect, Jeremy Flores, was in a white van holding what appeared to be an assault rifle but was actually a replica BB Airsoft gun. After refusing to obey commands to drop the weapon and raising the rifle, officers opened fire, striking Flores multiple times. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The shooting led to protests and ongoing investigations into the use of force and delay in medical aid 

Armed Intruder Shot by Houston Police Sergeant After Foot Chase

Footage from Houston Police responding to an assault call where the suspect forcibly entered a female's apartment and assaulted her. Officers located the armed suspect who fled on foot, and during a pursuit, the suspect fell and drew a handgun. A Houston Police Sergeant gave commands to stop, but the suspect approached him meaningfully armed, leading the sergeant to shoot him. Paramedics arrived and declared the suspect deceased, with no officers injured during the incident 

Rochester Police Officers Shoot Suspect Who Pulled Gun from Hoodie

July 31, 2025 incident in Rochester, NY. Police responded to suspicious activity reports around 33 Ernestine Street involving a male in red clothing who was seen behaving suspiciously and attempting to enter an occupied vehicle. Officers confronted 38-year-old Akintunde Campbell, who physically resisted and then pulled a handgun from his hoodie pocket. The officers gave multiple commands to drop the weapon, which he ignored, leading to both officers shooting Campbell multiple times. EMS arrived and pronounced Campbell deceased at the scene. The handgun recovered was a 9mm Palmetto State Armory loaded with 13 rounds .

Deputies Shoot Arson Suspect After Gunfire Exchange

July 15, 2025, incident in St. Louis County, Minnesota. Deputies responded to an arson incident involving a man named Adam Clinton Wolf, who had set fires to multiple homes and was moving around on a riding lawnmower armed with a rifle-like weapon. An exchange of gunfire occurred between Wolf and the deputies when they located him. Wolf was shot during the confrontation, received medical aid, but was pronounced deceased at the scene. Guns and improvised shotgun devices were found there as well .

Corvette Driver Runs at Deputies With Loaded Gun and Gets Shot

June 17, 2025 incident in Miami-Dade County, Florida. Deputies initiated a traffic stop on a yellow Corvette for illegal window tinting. The driver, Kristofer Laboy, fled at high speed through city streets. When Laboy stopped in an apartment complex, he exited with a loaded handgun and ran toward deputies. One deputy shot Laboy after commands to drop the weapon were ignored. Emergency responders pronounced Laboy deceased at the scene. His weapon was a SIG Sauer P320 9mm loaded with 21 rounds. No deputies or bystanders were injured .

Colorado Springs Officer Fires on Fleeing Suspect Carrying Two Guns

July 5, 2025, incident in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Police responded to a call about an adult male displaying a firearm near downtown nightclubs. Officers located the man, identified as 26-year-old Alex Martinez-Sarmiento, who fled on foot while reaching toward his waistband. An officer fired, striking the suspect. Martinez-Sarmiento was taken into custody but pronounced deceased at the scene. Two loaded handguns were recovered, including a Glock 17 with an extended magazine and a second Glock 43 with a defaced serial number .

Antioch Police Officers Take Down Man Charging with Knife

June 30, 2025 incident in Antioch, California. Officers responded to a call about a man threatening to kill his family. The man, 26-year-old Davis Bahrami, refused to cooperate with officers and made threats towards his neighbor. When ordered to stop, Bahrami pulled a large knife and charged at officers despite less-lethal attempts. Officers then discharged their weapons, striking Bahrami. Paramedics arrived but he was pronounced deceased at the scene. The involved officers are on paid administrative leave per protocol .

LA County Deputies Shoot Man Caught Stabbing Victim Inside Home

June 9, 2025 incident in Lynwood, California. Deputies responded to a residential burglary in progress where 45-year-old Federico Rodriguez had broken into a home and was stabbing a victim with scissors. Deputies developed a tactical plan to enter through a bedroom window. Upon forced entry, Rodriguez was encountered stabbing the victim. Deputies discharged their weapons, striking Rodriguez and stopping the attack. Rodriguez was transported to a hospital but later pronounced deceased. No deputies or others were injured .

Bodycam Shows Chicago Officer Shot During Struggle With Armed Suspect

May 29, 2025 incident in Chicago, Illinois. Officers attempted to stop 19-year-old Nathaniel Fejerang, who fled on foot. During the attempted detainment, a struggle ensued, and shots were fired. An officer was shot in the leg but treated and released the same day. Fejerang was shot by another officer and later pronounced deceased. A gun was recovered at the scene .

Officers and Suspect Exchange Fire in Intense Hotel Shootout

June 12, 2024 incident in Woodbridge Township, New Jersey. Officers from Edison and Woodbridge police, along with NYPD detectives, were conducting an investigation at a hotel when 46-year-old Karl Gregory emerged from an elevator holding bags and reached into a backpack. Gunfire was exchanged between Gregory and officers, resulting in injuries to Gregory, Woodbridge Officer Nerney, and NYPD Detective Mauro. Gregory was pronounced deceased at the scene, and the two officers were hospitalized and later released. A handgun was recovered near Gregory .

Bodycam Video Shows Suspect Fire at Michigan Deputy Before Being Shot

June 30, 2025 incident in Berrien County, Michigan. Deputy Cal Landon approached a vehicle parked on private property. When asked for ID, 48-year-old Joshua Coffey fled on foot into a nearby park. Bodycam footage showed Coffey appearing to surrender before suddenly drawing a firearm and firing two shots at the deputy. Deputy Landon transitioned from a taser to his service weapon and fatally shot Coffey. Backup arrived and found Coffey deceased with the firearm still in his hand. Deputy Landon is on administrative leave as per standard procedure .

El Paso Officers Exchange Gunfire With Armed Suspect

June 1, 2025 incident in El Paso, Texas. Police responded to a family disturbance call on Passo Via. Upon approaching a residence, officers encountered 35-year-old Salvador Valdiviezo, who exited with a gun and pointed it at them. Gunfire was exchanged, resulting in Valdiviezo being shot. An officer was also wounded with a gunshot to her right leg and was transported to a local hospital in stable condition. Valdiviezo was transported but later died of his wounds. He was known to be a registered nurse and a U.S. Navy veteran .

LAPD Officers Shoot Man Moments After He Stabs His Wife

May 16, 2025, LAPD officers responded to a call about a man, Jose Gonzalez Ramos, stabbing his wife multiple times in Los Angeles. When officers arrived, Ramos advanced toward them with a knife, prompting an officer-involved shooting (OIS) and use of a less-lethal launcher. Ramos was struck by gunfire and taken into custody. Both Ramos and the victim later died from their injuries in the hospital. No officers or bystanders were hurt, and the knife was recovered as evidence. The video contains bodycam footage and the 911 call related to the event 

Shootout Breaks Out After Robbery Suspect Pulls Gun On LA County Deputies

June 7, 2025, in Lancaster, California. Deputies responded to an armed robbery call. They detained a suspect, Erick Berrios, 31, who resisted, armed himself, and fired at deputies. One deputy was wounded, and Berrios was shot dead by deputies. A loaded 9mm ghost gun was recovered. The wounded deputy was critically but stably hospitalized. No other injuries occurred during the incident .

Harris County Deputies Fire Multiple Rounds After Man Pulls Knife During Arrest

May 5, 2025, in Houston, Texas. Harris County Deputies responded to a call to remove a man refusing to leave a medical facility. The man, 65-year-old Ishmael Dennis, was in a vehicle and refused to comply with deputies. After a deputy shattered the car window and attempted to gain control, Dennis produced a knife. Deputies fired multiple rounds, resulting in Dennis' death at the scene. A Taser was deployed but was ineffective prior to the shooting .

Oklahoma City Police Officers Shoot Man Who Charged at Them With a Knife

This incident happened on June 16, 2025, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Police responded to a call at a residence where a man named Eddie Hill, age 41, armed with a knife, charged an officer despite orders to drop the weapon. The officers shot Hill, who later died at the hospital from his injuries 

Bodycam Video of Shootout Between Seattle Officers and Barricaded Suspect

The video shows Seattle Police responding to a domestic violence call on June 20, 2025. The suspect, a 53-year-old man, fired multiple shots at officers after retreating into his apartment. A Seattle officer returned fire, seriously injuring the suspect who was later found deceased by the SWAT team. The domestic violence victim was also shot but rescued and transported to hospital 

Bodycam Captures Shootout After Man Pulls Gun on Baltimore Officers

June 17, 2025, in Baltimore, Maryland. Baltimore Police officers encountered 36-year-old Bilal Yusuf-Muhammad Abdullah, Jr., who fled on foot after police attempted to speak with him. When officers tried to apprehend him, a firearm was discharged, leading to gunfire exchanged between Abdullah and three officers. Abdullah was struck and later died at the hospital. One officer was injured by a ricocheted bullet but recovered after surgery. 

Cop Shoots Armed Naked Suspect After Foot Pursuit

June 4, 2025, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Officers served warrants on 40-year-old Jose Martinez for sexual assault charges. Martinez fled naked, armed with a handgun, and after ignoring commands, retrieved the gun and threatened officers. An officer shot Martinez, who was pronounced dead at the scene 

Welfare Check Escalates Into Shootout Between Baltimore Cop and Armed Man

May 18, 2025, in Dundalk, Maryland. Baltimore County Police responded to a welfare check call and encountered Glenn Pettie, Jr., age 43, who fired at an officer in an alley. During the gunfire exchange, Pettie was wounded and later pronounced dead at the hospital. A loaded handgun was found near Pettie, and no officers were injured .

Salt Lake City Police Shoot Man Armed With Knife Who Broke into Ex-Wife's Home

May 27, 2025, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Officers responded to a domestic violence burglary and found Christian Thomas Allen, 60, violating a protective order and threatening his ex-wife and her children. Allen, armed with a knife and reportedly doused in gasoline, advanced on police and was shot dead after refusing commands to drop the weapon. The family was rescued unharmed 

Orange County Deputy Shoots Man Who Charged at Him With a Knife

June 7, 2025, in Orlando, Florida. Deputies responded to a call about an erratic, schizophrenic man, Terry Washington Jr., who charged at a deputy with a knife and tried to grab the deputy's gun. The deputy shot Washington, who later died at the hospital. The deputy was treated for head injuries

Man Armed With Bat And Rock Gets Shot By Houston Cop

May 23, 2025, in Houston, Texas. Houston Police responded to a trespassing report where the suspect, armed with a baseball bat and later a concrete rock, refused to leave and threatened officers. The officers deployed Conducted Emergency Devices (CEDs) without success. The suspect aggressively approached with the bat and rock, leading an officer to fire multiple shots, fatally wounding the suspect at the scene. 

Houston Police Officers Shoot Suspect Who Reached For Gun

May 17, 2025, in Houston, Texas. Officers responded to a vehicle crash involving three vehicles and found the driver of a green SUV who fled the scene. When officers attempted to detain the driver for investigation, he reached for a visible gun in his waistband. Two officers fired their weapons, striking the suspect. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene after officers rendered aid

Manteca Police Officers Shoot Man After He Rams Patrol Cars at In-N-Out

April 30, 2025, in Manteca, California. Police officers were called to respond to a disturbance at the In-N-Out Burger where a man, Charles McGonegal II, 69, intentionally rammed vehicles in the drive-thru, including police patrol cars. After striking a patrol car and refusing to stop, officers discharged their firearms multiple times while McGonegal was still in his vehicle, striking him. He was later transported to a trauma center and pronounced deceased .

Houston Police Officer Shoots Machete-Wielding Robbery Suspect

May 16, 2025, in Houston, Texas. Police responded to a robbery report involving 33-year-old Earnest Duke Harrison, who stole merchandise and brandished a large knife. Officers located him at the Southmore Blvd. bridge, where Harrison advanced on an officer with a machete. The officer fired, striking Harrison, who was later pronounced deceased at the hospital

Chicago Cops Shoot Man During Gun Battle Following Chase into Indiana

May 8, 2025, in Hammond, Indiana. Chicago Police responded to a call about a person with a gun, identifying 50-year-old Joseph Navarro wanted for aggravated battery. Navarro fled in a vehicle and crashed in Hammond, where officers were then fired upon and returned fire. Navarro was struck multiple times, transported to the hospital, and pronounced deceased. Two officers were hospitalized for observation and later reported in good condition. A gun was recovered at the scene .

NYPD Officer Opens Fire After Man Charges With Knife

May 13, 2025, in Brooklyn, New York. Officers Humpf and Cattani responded to a 911 call regarding a man threatening another individual at an apartment. Upon encountering 25-year-old Damon Louther, he retrieved a large knife and advanced toward the officers. One officer deployed a Taser but Louther continued to approach, leading Officer Humpf to fire two shots that struck Louther. Louther was taken into custody but later pronounced deceased at Brookdale Hospital Medical Center .

Houston Police Officer Shoots Machete-Wielding Robbery Suspect

May 16, 2025, in Houston, Texas. Houston Police responded to a robbery report involving 33-year-old Earnest Duke Harrison, who stole merchandise and brandished a large knife. Officers located Harrison at the Southmore Blvd. bridge; he advanced toward officers with a machete before being shot by police. Harrison was transported to a hospital in critical condition and later pronounced deceased .

NY Troopers Shoot Gunman Who Opened Fire Outside Police Barracks

 April 9, 2025, in Malta, New York. New York State Police Troopers inside the Saratoga Barracks heard gunfire from outside. They responded to a man, later identified as 69-year-old David Levine, who was armed with a long gun and firing into the station. Troopers ordered Levine to drop the weapon, but he refused and aimed at them. Troopers fired, striking Levine. He was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead. A gun was recovered at the scene .

Chicago Cops Shoot Man Who Charged Them With a Knife

May 5, 2025, in Chicago, Illinois. Officers responded to a call about a man with a knife inside an assisted living facility. They found 47-year-old Alfonzo Wright armed with a knife. Despite verbal attempts to de-escalate and taser deployment, Wright rushed an officer swinging the knife. Two officers fired multiple shots, fatally wounding Wright. Inside the apartment, officers found a second man, Keith Harding, dead from stab wounds believed to be inflicted by Wright. Officers were unharmed .

Woman Calls 911 For Help Then Charges Deputies With Knife

May 7, 2025, in Orlando, Florida. Vanessa Eugene, 19, called 911 claiming she was strangled and battered inside an apartment. Deputies responded and forced entry. Eugene emerged from a bathroom wielding a kitchen knife and charged at deputies. Two deputies fired their service weapons, striking Eugene who was later transported to a hospital where she died. No deputies or uninvolved civilians were injured in the incident 

Woman Calls Police Then Confronts Them With a Gun

April 28, 2025, in Casper, Wyoming. A woman named Jody Cobia, 37, called police to her home reporting an armed burglary. When officers arrived, Cobia herself answered the door dressed in black, holding a gun and pointed it at officers. The officers fired five shots. Cobia, wearing a "POLICE" patch on her shirt, was injured and later pronounced deceased at a medical center. Officers were unharmed, and a dog at the scene was also unharmed and rehomed .

Fresno Police Officer Shoots Woman Who Took Hostage At Knifepoint

April 10, 2025, in Fresno, California. Police responded to a report of a woman holding a knife at the Fax Manchester transit center. Officers located 39-year-old Joanna Lopez holding a knife and using a 68-year-old woman as a human shield. Despite repeated commands, Lopez did not comply and moved threateningly toward the victim. An officer fired, striking Lopez. The victim was unharmed and rescued. Lopez was given medical aid but later died in the hospital. No bystanders or animals were injured during this incident .

Prince George’s County Officers Shoot Suspect Who Approached Them With a Knife

On April 20, 2025, in Oxon Hill, Maryland, Prince George’s County Police responded to a stabbing incident and discovered two critically injured victims following a domestic-related stabbing. The suspect, 44-year-old Aevon Bucknor Jr., fled the scene and later confronted officers with a knife. Despite verbal commands, Bucknor advanced on officers, who then fired, striking him. Bucknor walked several feet away after being shot but eventually collapsed. He was transported to a hospital and pronounced dead. No officers were injured. One victim has been released from the hospital, and the other remains hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries 

Aurora Police Officer Shoots Suspect After Struggle at an Offsite Airport Parking Lot

May 12, 2025, in Aurora, Colorado. Police responded to a report of a suspicious male trespassing and refusing to leave an offsite airport parking lot. Officers located 32-year-old Rashad Terrelle Johnson, who became aggressive and charged an officer. Non-lethal attempts to subdue Johnson failed, and after multiple commands to comply, an officer-involved shooting occurred. Johnson was struck and transported to a hospital where he later died. The officer incurred minor injuries during the struggle .

Elderly Man With Active Warrant Exchange Gunfire With State Police Officer

May 6, 2025, in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. New Mexico State Police stopped 75-year-old Dennis Jones, who had an active arrest warrant for probation violation. During the traffic stop, Jones produced and pointed a handgun at the officer, who fired multiple rounds. Jones fled and was pursued onto the highway, where he fired at the officer again. The officer returned fire, striking Jones. Jones was found unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene. The officer was unharmed 

SWAT Officers Shoot Suspect Who Fired Gun Outside a Trailer

May 13, 2025, in Jacksonville, Florida. Police responded to multiple calls about a man, 44-year-old Calixto Benvenutti, firing a gun outside a trailer. Officers saw Benvenutti holding a gun on the porch and ordered him to disarm and exit, but he refused. After a warrant was issued, SWAT officers arrived and continued instructions to disarm. Benvenutti fired a gun once into the ground, retreated inside, and later came out armed with a concealed gun. SWAT officers fired multiple times, striking Benvenutti. He was taken into custody and pronounced dead at the scene.

Armed Man Rants About Taliban and Opens Fire On Fairfax Cops In Fatal Traffic Stop

April 23, 2025, in Fairfax, Virginia. Officer conducted a traffic stop on 36-year-old Jamal Wali for an expired safety sticker. Wali was argumentative and then fired a shot at officers, injuring two officers in the process. A third officer fired back, striking Wali four times. Wali was transported to the hospital and later pronounced deceased. Both injured officers were treated and released 

Baltimore Police Engage In Shootout With Armed Man

May 12, 2025, in Baltimore, Maryland. Officers encountered 26-year-old Jai Marc Howell, who was on a moped and fled when approached. Howell was armed and fired at officers first, hitting an occupied police vehicle with two rounds. Officers returned fire with about 24 rounds, striking Howell. Emergency aid was given on-site and he was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. No officers were injured during the incident .

Austin Police Officer Shoots Man Wielding BB Gun in Wheelchair

May 17, 2025, in Austin, Texas. Police responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a man in a wheelchair holding a black pistol. The man, identified as Danny Palomino, ignored commands to stop and raise his hands. Officer Jackson fired shots when Palomino pointed the pistol, which was later identified as a Glock replica BB gun. Palomino was shot multiple times, taken to a hospital, and pronounced deceased. No other individuals or officers were injured in the incident .

Jacksonville Officer Shoots Man Who Charged Toward Him

April 28, 2025, in Jacksonville, Florida. Officers responded to a reported seizure caused by a narcotics overdose involving 40-year-old Michael Lee Wright. Wright became combative with paramedics and police, was handcuffed, transported to a hospital, and restrained. Later, when his girlfriend returned to collect belongings, Wright, armed with scissors, charged a patrol SUV, jumped on the hood, and made threats. Officer Burke struck Wright with the vehicle, then after Wright charged him, the officer fired his weapon, striking Wright. Despite medical aid, Wright died at the hospital .

SWAT Officers Shoot Suspect Who Fired Gun And Fled Through San Diego

April 14, 2025, in San Diego, California. Police received a report of a suspect with a partially concealed rifle. The suspect, Enrique Cortez Jr., fired one shot into the ground and then fled in a white Ford F-150, leading to a 30-minute pursuit involving multiple freeways. Cortez crashed his vehicle and struck a K-9 patrol vehicle, causing minor injury to the officer inside. Cortez then attempted to flee again but was shot multiple times by two SWAT officers, who rendered medical aid until paramedics arrived. Cortez died from his injuries. Shirtless Suspect Steals Gun From Female Cop

January 24, 2025, in Fountain Valley, California. Police responded to a suspicious subject call after a man was reported trying to open the door of a vehicle occupied by a female near a middle school. The male suspect, 26-year-old Osean McClintock, fled from police and was chased by officers. During the pursuit, McClintock approached a female officer seated in her car and forcibly took her gun after a struggle. A male officer arrived and ordered McClintock to drop the weapon, but he refused, entered the officer's patrol vehicle, and closed the door. An officer-involved shooting then occurred. McClintock was removed from the vehicle, received first aid, but was later pronounced deceased.

Gunfight Erupts After Wanted Fugitive Shoots Deputy In Florida

January 24, 2025, in DeSoto County, Florida. Police received information that 30-year-old Matthew Steven Rollie, a wanted fugitive with an active warrant for child enticement, was in the county. Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle carrying Rollie. As officers verified Rollie's identity, he reached for a gun and fired multiple shots, hitting Deputy Trujillo. Both Deputy Trujillo and Sergeant Nunez returned fire, shooting Rollie multiple times. Despite being struck, Rollie continued firing before collapsing and was pronounced dead at the scene. Deputy Trujillo was airlifted to the hospital and is recovering. Investigations concluded the officers acted within agency policies 

NYPD Officers Fire Multiple Rounds At Man With Knife

April 14, 2025, in Queens, New York. Multiple 911 calls reported a man, 60-year-old King Wong, armed with a knife in the vicinity of 30th Avenue and 33rd Street. Responding officers encountered Wong brandishing the knife and issued orders to drop it. Tasers were deployed but ineffective. Officers then fired multiple rounds—seven shots by Officer Acosta, two by Officer Coissy, and ten by Officer Lamonica. Wong was struck and transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced deceased 

Police Exchange Gunfire With Wanted Suspect on Nashville Bridge

May 12, 2025, in Nashville, Tennessee. Police had been searching for 29-year-old Tadarius Milan Hunt, wanted for an attempted murder after shooting a man at the Nashville Rescue Mission. On May 12, officers spotted Hunt on a bridge and he fired at them, striking one officer in the leg. The officers returned fire, critically wounding Hunt, who later died at the hospital. The officer injured was treated and discharged .

Wild Shootout Erupts After Gunman Fires on NY State Trooper From SUV Window

June 16, 2023, in Duanesburg, New York. Trooper Richard Albert stopped a silver SUV traveling at high speed. The driver, 32-year-old Nelson Troche, fired a handgun at Trooper Albert, striking him in the shoulder. Troche and his girlfriend attempted to flee but were stopped when a tractor-trailer driver blocked their path. Troche carjacked a disabled pickup truck and exchanged gunfire from cover. Trooper Albert continued the pursuit and gunfire for 12 minutes before Troche fled into the woods. Troche was later found deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot. His girlfriend Alicia Eriole was charged with criminal facilitation after admitting her role in assisting Troche 

Motorcyclist Grabs Officer's Taser During Altercation Then Gets Shot

April 17, 2025, in Newport Beach, California. Police conducted a traffic stop on a motorcycle that ran a red light. The rider, 45-year-old Geoffrey Stirling, refused commands to sit and then physically attacked the officer, striking him multiple times and seizing his taser, which he then pressed against the officer's head. The officer broke free and, as Stirling pointed the taser again, an officer-involved shooting occurred. Stirling was transported to a hospital and later died. The officer was treated and released. A civilian police employee on a ride-along was present but uninvolved .

Cops Open Fire After Man Emerges With Shotgun During Domestic Call

April 27, 2025, in Cottonwood, Arizona. Two police officers responded to a domestic violence call regarding 58-year-old David Coomer, who was reported by his spouse to be inside their bedroom closet with multiple guns and acting irrationally. When officers arrived, Coomer emerged armed with a shotgun. The officers discharged their firearms, fatally wounding Coomer at the scene .

Police Shoot Man Who Fired Gun Outside a Downtown Orlando Restaurant

April 20, 2025, in Orlando, Florida. Detectives observed a physical altercation outside Thrive Cocktail Lounge & Eatery. During the fight, a handgun fell from the suspect, 38-year-old Johnathan Angel Flores. Flores picked up the weapon and subsequently fired one round into the air toward patrons. Officers responded rapidly and ordered Flores to drop the weapon multiple times. After Flores refused, officers fired their weapons, striking him. Flores was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased. The officers involved were placed on paid administrative leave 

Man Shot After Hitting Trooper With Metal Clamp During Child Custody Dispute

March 21, 2025, in Constantia, New York. Oswego County Sheriff's Office and New York State Police responded to a welfare check and to serve an order to remove a 3-year-old child from 32-year-old Miles Dignean's custody. During the encounter, Dignean became uncooperative and tried to prevent the child removal. A struggle ensued in which Dignean hit Trooper Junyla Sabari in the head with a heavy steel C-clamp. Deputy Corey Whitney shot Dignean twice after a taser was ineffective. The child was placed with family, and Dignean was pronounced dead at a hospital .

Baton Rouge Officer Shoots Gunman Who Fired From Vehicle

April 20, 2025, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Police responded to reports of an armed suspect at the Super 6 Inns and Suites. Officers located 34-year-old Kevin Vallian seated in a vehicle with the alarm going off. After attempts to deescalate, Vallian grabbed and fired an AR-style rifle at officers. One officer returned fire, fatally wounding Vallian. Officers secured multiple weapons and performed life-saving measures. No officers were injured.

April 20, 2025, in Louisville, Kentucky. Louisville Metro Police responded to a call about a man, 36-year-old Ahtume McCollum, reportedly intoxicated and breaking apartment windows. Officers found McCollum with a knife and told him not to reach for it. When McCollum resisted detention and attempted to stab an officer wearing a protective vest, the other officer shot him in the head. McCollum was given aid but later pronounced deceased at the hospital 

Medina County Deputies Shoot Armed Suspect Heading Toward a High School

October 5, 2024, in Medina County, Ohio. Deputies were dispatched following reports of 44-year-old David Septer, who was believed to be traveling toward Wadsworth High School armed with a rifle. Deputies followed the subject's vehicle and initiated a high-risk traffic stop. Septer exited the vehicle holding a rifle and appeared to rack it. Deputies gave commands for him to show his hands. When Septer raised the rifle, two deputies fired their service weapons, striking him. Medical aid was administered on scene, and despite these efforts, Septer died from his injuries .

April 2, 2025, in Logan County, Oklahoma. Deputies responded to a fight between a couple after a woman reported her ex-husband, 45-year-old Jeremy Dean Barnett, was harassing her and had a warrant. As deputies approached, they were told Barnett was hiding near the pool. When deputies moved toward the area, Barnett opened fire, striking both deputies. Despite being wounded, a third deputy returned fire and hit Barnett, who was later found dead. Both injured deputies suffered minor injuries and were treated and released. 

Bismarck Officer Shoots Fleeing Woman Who Hit Cop with SUV

March 7, 2025, in Bismarck, North Dakota. Officers responded to a report of 53-year-old Melanie Udell, possibly intoxicated, in a white Chevy Traverse. During questioning, she refused to exit her vehicle, then accelerated and struck Officer Matthew James, launching him over a snowbank and into a fence. Officer Nathan Anderson shot Udell as she continued to pose a threat. Udell later died at the hospital. Officer James sustained serious injuries and requires long-term recovery. The shooting was ruled justified, and Officer Anderson was cleared of wrongdoing 

Chicago Cop Shoots Gunman Who Held Girlfriend Captive

March 20, 2025, in Chicago, Illinois. Police responded to a domestic-related call and found 43-year-old Devon Smith and a female victim inside a bedroom. As the victim fled, Smith pointed a firearm at an officer, who then shot and struck Smith. Smith was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Charleston Officers Open Fire After Man Points Gun

November 21, 2024, in Charleston, South Carolina. Police responded to a report of a physical altercation involving a handgun. On arrival, officers encountered 37-year-old Andrew Williams, who presented and pointed a firearm during the interaction. Two officers responded by firing at Williams, who was struck and later pronounced dead at the hospital.

March 14, 2025, in Los Angeles, California. Officers stopped 35-year-old Mario Sanchez for erratic driving and ordered him to lower his windows and show his hands. Sanchez yelled at officers, then exited his vehicle, drew a dark object from his waistband, and quickly pointed it at officers, prompting them to open fire. Sanchez was struck and later died at the hospital. The object was later identified as a cellphone; no officers or bystanders were injured 

Jacksonville Officers Fire On Suspect Who Aimed Gun At Them

March 30, 2025, in Jacksonville, Florida. Police responded to a 911 call reporting that 28-year-old Alquan Suydamhad punched his pregnant girlfriend while armed with a firearm. Officers found Suydamhad in a car and ordered him to show his hands. Instead, he raised a firearm and pointed it at officers. The officers shot Suydamhad in the lower body. Emergency medical care was provided, and he was taken to a hospital where he later died.

Attack on Ohio Trooper Sparks Cruiser Theft and Rollover Pursuit Crash

April 4, 2025, in Beaver County, Pennsylvania. An Ohio trooper approached 30-year-old Deshawn Leeth, who had crashed his vehicle on the side of the turnpike. Leeth fled on foot but returned and engaged in a physical fight with the trooper, overpowering him and knocking off his body camera. After Leeth ran away again, he stole the trooper's cruiser, which led to a multi-agency pursuit. The pursuit ended when Leeth crashed the stolen cruiser. During a resisting arrest altercation, Leeth was fatally shot by police. It is unclear whether Leeth was armed. He had a criminal history including home invasion charges and was known for his work with at-risk youth programs 

Police Officer Shoots Suspect During Foot Chase After Gun Display

March 31, 2025, in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Police responded to a report of a large fight connected to a funeral gathering. Officers located a black Chevrolet Tahoe with two occupants, one of whom, 38-year-old Dyshan Best, fled on foot when police approached to detain him. During the foot chase, Best discarded a liquor bottle but later displayed a gun. An officer fired two shots, striking Best. A 9mm handgun was recovered at the scene, and Best was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Suspect in Body Armor Opens Fire on Officer During Traffic Stop

March 12, 2025, in Jacksonville, Florida. Officer A.C. Gaulding attempted to conduct a traffic stop on 33-year-old Brandon White. White was slow to stop, eventually pulling into a driveway, where he immediately began firing at the officer, hitting him in the foot. Officer Gaulding returned fire, moving to cover. White then grabbed a rifle and attempted to exit the vehicle, prompting Gaulding to fire again and incapacitate him. Additional officers arrived to provide emergency medical care. White was wearing body armor during the shooting. He was transported to a hospital where he later died. 

Oregon State Police Trooper Shoots Suspect Armed with Knife Near National Guard Air Station

February 27, 2025, in Salem, Oregon. Authorities responded to an attempted robbery report at the National Guard Air Station involving 22-year-old Matthew Wong, who had left a threatening note demanding compliance. Senior Trooper Oxenrider, training nearby, self-dispatched and encountered Wong near an airplane monument. After warnings and two ineffective Taser attempts, Wong charged at the trooper with a knife. Trooper Oxenrider fired two shots, fatally wounding Wong, who was pronounced dead on scene. No one else was harmed during the event .

Police Officer Shoots Chainsaw-Wielding Man Inside Senior Living Facility

December 1, 2024, in St. Charles, Illinois. Police were dispatched after a caller reported 41-year-old Daniel H. Escalera entering a senior living facility wielding a chainsaw. The first officer gave verbal commands and attempted to use a taser, but Escalera resumed advancing with the chainsaw. After a physical collision where Escalera struck the officer with the chainsaw, the officer fired multiple shots, eventually striking Escalera twice and causing him to collapse near an elderly resident. Escalera was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Toxicology revealed methamphetamine intoxication, and the officer's use of force was deemed justifiable 

Santa Ana Police Officers Shoot Homicide Suspect on the Newport Beach Pier

February 1, 2025, in Menifee, California, and concluded with an officer-involved shooting in Newport Beach. Officers responded to a reported homicide involving 38-year-old Storm Wolf, who was found deceased. Suspect Jose Velasquez, 45, fled before police arrived. Following investigative leads, Santa Ana Police located Velasquez and initiated a pursuit. The pursuit ended in Newport Beach when an officer shot Velasquez, who was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Armed Man Shot by Deputy Responding to Active Shooter Call

February 8, 2025, in Douglas County, Colorado. Deputies responded to an active shooter call at a venue where a fight had broken out inside the women's restroom, ending in gunfire. During the investigation, 23-year-old Jalin Seabron was seen leaving the scene armed with a handgun with an extended magazine. Despite commands to drop the weapon, Seabron pointed it at the deputy. The deputy fired multiple rounds as a defensive measure, striking Seabron, who succumbed to his injuries.

Maricopa Police Shoot Wanted Man After He Fires at Officers

February 27, 2025, in Maricopa, Arizona. Police spotted 38-year-old Keith Prock, who had several outstanding warrants. Prock fled from police and fired several shots at pursuing officers. A detective in an unmarked car also fired at Prock. He was pronounced dead at the scene. One officer was shot and was hospitalized in stable condition. Prock had an extensive violent criminal history and gang affiliation .

Elk Grove Officers Shoot Suspect Who Fired at Them During Vehicle Pursuit

February 1, 2025, in Sacramento, California. Elk Grove Police attempted to stop a Ford Explorer driven by 22-year-old Jonnie Bartholomew, who fled and led officers on a pursuit. Bartholomew fired at officers during the chase, striking a patrol vehicle. The pursuit continued until officers rammed Bartholomew's vehicle and discharged firearms, hitting Bartholomew. Officers provided medical aid while a handgun was recovered. Bartholomew was pronounced deceased; no officers or deputies were injured 

Jasper County Deputy Opens Fire as Suspect Grabs Gun During Arrest

January 26, 2025, in Jasper County, Indiana. A Deputy stopped 42-year-old Matthew W. Huttle for speeding, found to be a Habitual Traffic Violator (a felony). When informed of his arrest, Huttle fled to his vehicle, reached for a weapon, and struggled with the Deputy. The Deputy fired multiple shots when Huttle raised a firearm, striking him. Despite lifesaving attempts, Huttle was pronounced dead on scene. A loaded 9mm handgun and ammunition were recovered, and the deputy's actions were deemed legally justified under Indiana law after investigation 

Suspect Shot After Ramming Police and Civilian Cars During Chase

September 20, 2024, in Massapequa, New York. NYPD, Freeport Police, and Nassau County Police were involved in a vehicle pursuit of Jeremy Bennett. The pursuit ended on Sunrise Highway when Bennett stopped, and officers discharged their weapons, striking him. Bennett was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead. During the chase, Bennett's vehicle rammed police and civilian cars, causing minor injuries to eight people, including five Nassau officers, two NYPD officers, and one civilian. 

Knife-Wielding Suspect Shot After Crashing Into Police Car and Demanding Officer’s Gun

February 18, 2025, in Washington, DC. A driver headed south on Georgia Avenue crashed into a marked MPD cruiser. The suspect, 29-year-old Surafel Zerihun, exited his vehicle brandishing a knife and demanded the officer’s service weapon through the driver’s side window. The officer retreated and gave multiple commands to drop the knife. Zerihun refused, entered another police cruiser, attempted a carjacking while armed with the knife, and was shot by an officer. Despite lifesaving efforts, Zerihun was pronounced dead. The knife was recovered at the scene 

Deputy Shoots Man Advancing With Machete Outside Paramount Sheriffs Station

On January 30, 2025, in Paramount, California, a deputy heard a loud banging noise in the Paramount Sheriff’s Sub-Station parking lot. Investigating, the deputy saw 34-year-old Juan Alvarez advancing rapidly toward him armed with a machete. The deputy gave repeated commands for Alvarez to get on the ground, but Alvarez did not comply and continued advancing. The deputy fired at Alvarez, striking him and causing him to fall. Other deputies rendered first aid until fire department personnel arrived. Alvarez was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Police Officers Shoot Armed Suspect Who Opened Fire and Charged with Machete

December 19, 2024, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Officers responded to a report of a shooting and found a woman wounded in a backyard. Suspect 40-year-old Oylin Antonio Menocal Antunez was later located by officers Gillings and Tarpley, who were fired upon by Antunez. During a foot pursuit, Antunez stopped at a home, was seen holding a gun and a machete. He charged the officers with the machete raised above his head and firearm in hand. Officers fired their weapons, striking Antunez. Despite commands to stop reaching, he tried to reach for a weapon and was shot again. Antunez was hospitalized but pronounced dead.

Wyoming Officers Shoot Man Who Threatened Them With a Baseball Bat

On September 9, 2024, in Hot Springs County, Wyoming, officers responded to reports of 41-year-old Jared Gottula wielding a metal baseball bat in a threatening manner. When confronted, Gottula charged at an officer’s vehicle despite being struck by the patrol car and targeted with a Taser. A Hot Springs County Sheriff’s deputy arrived, and Gottula raised the bat while advancing, leading both officers to fire their weapons. Gottula was pronounced dead at the scene.

Suspect Fires on Deputies and Tries to Escape Before Being Shot in Los Angeles

January 21, 2025, where deputies responded to a call about a man, George Delgado, threatening his ex-girlfriend and armed with a handgun. Delgado fired at deputies, who returned fire, leading to a foot pursuit. During the chase, multiple deputy-involved shootings occurred. Delgado entered a van while still armed, prompting deputies to call in an armored vehicle. Eventually, deputies made a tactical approach and rendered first aid to Delgado, who had been shot and was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Armed Suspect Shot by NYPD After Pointing Gun at Officer

December 5, 2024, in Brooklyn, New York. Christopher Ferguson, age 21, reportedly fired several shots at another person and then fled as a passenger in a black Honda Accord. Police located the vehicle and pursued it for about 2.5 miles before it became disabled after hitting another vehicle. As Officer Aguilar approached, Ferguson exited the vehicle and pointed a firearm at the officer. In response, Officer Aguilar fired 16 shots and Officer Reis fired 3 shots, striking Ferguson multiple times. Ferguson was transported to a medical center where he was pronounced dead.

Traffic Stop Turns Into Pursuit and Shootout With Police in Fort Worth, Texas

January 30, 2025. Lake Worth Police initially conducted a traffic stop on suspect Nicholas Sides for a traffic violation. Instead of complying, Sides fled in his vehicle, leading officers on a pursuit that ended when he crashed in a backyard near Sansom Park. Sides then opened fire on the officers but ignored commands to comply. After briefly driving past officers with a gun to his head, Sides fled on foot and barricaded himself inside a nearby residence. Crisis Intervention Team and SWAT were called, establishing a perimeter and trying to negotiate for several hours. Sides set off fireworks inside and outside the home, refused to surrender, and fired multiple shots at officers. A SWAT officer then fired a single shot, striking Sides in the torso. He was treated on scene and transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. 

Houston Police Shoot Suspect Who Grabbed an Officer's Gun and Fired a Shot

January 6, 2025, in Houston, Texas. Officers responded to a burglary call involving a suspect reportedly armed with a sharp object. Upon locating the suspect, he fled on foot and after a brief pursuit resisted arrest. During the struggle, the suspect got on top of an officer, grabbed the officer's duty weapon, and accidentally fired a shot while the gun was still holstered. Officer Avila then fired at least two shots, striking the suspect. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the suspect deceased at the scene.

Chicago Police Officers Shoot Man Who Charged at Them With Knife

January 3, 2025. Chicago police officers responded to a call about a man with a knife in an apartment. When officers knocked, a 58-year-old man named Timothy Glaze charged at them with a knife, leading the officers to shoot him multiple times. The man was transported to the hospital but later pronounced deceased.

Connecticut Officers Caught in Shootout While Serving Warrant

January 29, 2025 incident in New Haven, Connecticut, where police serving a search warrant encountered gunfire from a suspect, Aaron Freeman. During the event, one officer was shot in the calf, and another exchanged fire with Freeman. The suspect was ultimately killed by police gunfire, and firearms were recovered at the scene.

Officer Clings to Moving Car Before Firing Shots at Fleeing Suspect

Rock Island, Illinois, on January 5, 2025. Officer Brett Taylor tried to stop a suspect, Jakarta Jackson, who fled in a Ford Fusion with multiple passengers, including children. The officer clung to the moving car as it sped away and eventually fired five shots, hitting Jackson. Jackson later died from his wounds, and Officer Taylor was treated and released from the hospital. 

Deputies Shoot Man Who Stabbed Two K9 Dogs During Confrontation

Boise, Idaho, on January 24, 2024. Deputies attempted to detain Jeremiah Gaver, who was acting suspiciously and resisting commands while holding a cane and later a knife. Gaver stabbed two K9 dogs during the confrontation, which led deputies to shoot him multiple times. Gaver died at the scene, and the injured K9s were treated and later returned to service.

Salt Lake City Police Officer Shoots Man During a Traffic Stop

January 9, 2025, in Salt Lake City, Utah. During a routine traffic stop, the officer was confronted and attacked by 32-year-old Chandler Grillone, who was armed. The officer fired at least one shot when Grillone advanced toward the patrol car. Grillone was hit, transported to the hospital, and later died. 

Fort Worth Officers Shoot Man Charging at Them with Knives

Shows a January 15, 2025, incident in Fort Worth, Texas. Police responded to a domestic disturbance call at a residence where the suspect, Brandon Adame, was armed with two knives. Officers approached the house and attempted forced entry through the back door. Adame charged at the officers with both knives, prompting them to fire their weapons, striking him. Adame was pronounced deceased at the scene; no officers or civilians were injured

NYPD Police Shoot Knife-Wielding Suspect Hiding in a Bathtub

Brooklyn, New York, on September 13, 2024. Officers from the Brooklyn North Warrant Squad entered an apartment to arrest 38-year-old Vilmond Jean-Baptiste on an open warrant. Inside, he was found hiding in the bathroom with a knife in hand. After refusing commands to drop the knife and an ineffective Taser deployment, Jean-Baptiste charged at officers, who then fired multiple shots, striking and incapacitating him. He was transported to the hospital but later died. Multiple officers fired their weapons during the encounter 

Maserati Driver Shot After Police Pursuit and Gun Battle With LAPD Officers

November 26, 2024, in Los Angeles, California. Officers responded to a domestic violence call about suspect Aundre Jones, who was armed and following a bus driver with whom he had a prior relationship. Jones fled from police in a white Maserati, leading to a vehicle pursuit. The chase ended behind an apartment building where Jones exited and fired dual handguns at officers. Officers returned fire, striking Jones, who was later pronounced deceased. 

Knife-Wielding Woman Shot After Charging Deputies During Standoff

Greenville, South Carolina, on November 23, 2024. Deputies responded to a 911 call about a person threatening to harm themselves at a shopping plaza. Upon arrival, they encountered 21-year-old Daziana Lewis, who pulled out a knife and aggressively approached deputies despite verbal commands. Deputies attempted less-lethal options including a taser and beanbag shotgun, but Lewis remained aggressive and charged again. In response, deputies fired their weapons, striking Lewis. She received medical aid but was later pronounced deceased.

Armed Suspect Shot by San Antonio Officer During Drainage Ditch Pursuit

December 3, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas. An officer attempted to contact a male pedestrian who fled on foot near a drainage ditch. The suspect was seen holding a gun. The officer fired multiple times as the suspect ran and raised the gun at the officer. The suspect was struck and died at the scene. It was later determined the suspect had shot himself as the officer fired.

Colorado Springs Officers Shoot Man Who Fired Gun After Hour-Long Negotiation

December 13, 2024, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The El Paso County Sheriff's Office initially received a 911 call about a man armed and holding a gun to his head. The man fled but was later found in his truck by Colorado Springs officers. After about 55 minutes of negotiation and de-escalation attempts, the man fired multiple shots from inside his vehicle. Officers returned fire, striking and incapacitating the suspect, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect was identified as 33-year-old Dean Ackerman 

Bodycam Video in Fatal Shooting of Dior Store Security Guard After Hit-and-Run

San Francisco, California, on December 19, 2024. Police responded after a vehicle drove on the sidewalk at high speed, striking two pedestrians and a bicyclist, then fleeing the scene. Officers found the suspect vehicle and established a perimeter. During the encounter, an officer-involved shooting occurred where the suspect, armed with a firearm, was struck by gunfire. The suspect was transported to a hospital but was pronounced deceased.

Man Wielding Box Cutter Shot by Bailiff During Eviction Standoff

July 12, 2024, incident in Detroit, Michigan, where Sherman Butler, who was being evicted, was shot by a 36th District Court bailiff. Butler was highly agitated, holding a box cutter near his neck, and refused to leave despite multiple warnings. Officers deployed Tasers, which failed to subdue him. Butler advanced towards the bailiff and an officer with the box cutter, leading the bailiff to fire multiple shots in self-defense and defense of others. Butler was taken to a hospital and pronounced deceased. 

San Diego Officer Shot During Gunfight With Double-Homicide Suspect

November 13, 2024, in San Diego, California. Officers responded to multiple calls about a shooting near the County Courthouse where two victims were found deceased inside a car. The suspect, 26-year-old Christopher Farrell, fled the scene and was later located by Harbor Police officers. Farrell engaged officers in a gunfight, during which Officer Patrick Lynch was shot in the upper thigh/hip. Officers returned fire, striking Farrell multiple times. Farrell was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
