Accessory to Evil

Accessory to Evil

The series "Monique Olivier: Accessory to Evil" is a true crime docuseries on Netflix that focuses on Monique Olivier, the wife and accomplice of Michel Fourniret, one of France's most infamous serial killers. The series explores Olivier's role in her husband's brutal crimes, including kidnapping, rape, and murder of young girls and women in France and Belgium between 1987 and 2003. It raises the question of whether she was a willing participant or coerced into her involvement.

In June 2003 Belgian authorities arrest Michel Fourniret for attempted kidnapping and assault. After linking him to two other cases, they begin interrogating his wife Monique.

Letters, loneliness, and a deadly pact: with Olivier in custody psychologists analyze her history with Fourniret to understand her role in his crimes.

A prosecutor recalls Olivier and Fourniret's sheer lack of empathy as they uncovered the bodies of young women they are suspected of murdering. Later, the circumstances behind how Fourniret could afford a chateau is called into question.

When the trial opens, Olivier's role as a mother spikes public fascination and hatred. As the couple's crimes come to light, so does their sadistic sex life.

Olivier is taken out of her cell to help with a cold case in 2021 but her motives are unclear. Families of suspected victims search for answers.
